At the conclusion of every year we have a student essay contest.The first year (2007 - 2008) we asked the middle school students, “How did this program make science more sensible to you?”The second year (2008 - 2009) we asked the middle school students, “How has the resident scientist, working with your teacher, made science more sensible?”A winning essay is chosen from each of the five SMS schools. The students who win the contest come to the end of the year Capstone event with their families and read the winning essays aloud to the audience.
